About Terry M
Terry M Cannon took a straightforward path into the law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Georgia Southern University in 2011 and went on to receive his Juris Doctor from the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2016. Those classroom years set the foundation for a practice rooted in public service and private representation.
Fresh from law school, Cannon joined Legal Aid of the Bluegrass as a staff lawyer in 2016. There he handled direct client work and learned to manage a heavy caseload. The job required clear legal writing, courtroom appearances, and regular client contact. It framed his early approach to lawyering: practical, client-centered, and detail-oriented.
In 2019 he moved into private practice as an associate at Young, Reverman & Mazzei. The firm experience exposed him to a broader array of matters and the day-to-day demands of running cases in a competitive setting. He worked alongside more experienced attorneys and took on responsibilities typical of an associate: research, drafting, and client counseling. The position bridged his public interest background and the skills needed for private practice.
A year later he launched Cannon Law PLLC. Forming his own firm allowed him to shape the practice and handle matters from intake to resolution. Running a small firm meant combining legal work with administrative duties. He oversaw client relationships, case management, and the practical business side of a law office while continuing to appear in court and draft substantive pleadings.
Cannon is licensed in Kentucky and holds membership in the State Bar of Kentucky. He is also active in the Northern Kentucky Bar Association. Those affiliations reflect an ongoing engagement with the legal community in the region and provide avenues for professional development and collaboration.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in case preparation and direct in courtroom settings. He has balanced work in both nonprofit and private sectors, giving him perspective on differing client needs and institutional demands. That background informs how he evaluates cases and advises clients about next steps.
