About Thomas A
Thomas A Rauf serves on the Kenton Family Court, Division 6. He was appointed to the Kentucky Court of Justice in 2023 and hears family law matters at the Kenton Justice Center.
Rauf’s academic record is rooted at the University of Kentucky. He earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 2008. Earlier, he received a Master of Public Administration in 2005 and a Bachelor of Arts in political science in 2004, both from the University of Kentucky.
He moved into legal work shortly after law school. In 2008 he took a position as general counsel for Othello Partners, Inc., an in-house role that exposed him to corporate and transactional matters. By 2010 he was practicing privately under the Law Office of Thomas A. Rauf. He later joined Rauf & Smith as a partner in 2015, where he practiced alongside other lawyers until resuming solo practice under his own name in 2019.
Across those years Rauf handled a range of matters typical for a small-firm practitioner. He also holds a Guardian ad Litem certification issued by the Kentucky Administrative Office of the Courts, a credential that reflects work in cases involving child welfare and court-appointed advocacy. He has been a member of the Kentucky State Bar since 2008 and remains active in the bar’s roster.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in the courtroom and straightforward in written rulings. He has moved from private practice into the judiciary in recent years, carrying that approach from his time as counsel to his role on the bench. His courtroom is based at the Kenton Justice Center, where he manages dockets for family-related disputes.
He now serves on the Kenton Family Court, presiding over family law matters.
