About Daniel R.

Daniel R. Boynton built his legal foundation at the University of Michigan, earning a B.A. in economics in 1976 and a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 1979. He entered the profession at a time of change in the legal marketplace, armed with an education from one of the Midwest’s longstanding law schools and a clear interest in litigation at both state and federal levels.

Early in his career Boynton secured admission to practice in Michigan and to the federal benches that serve the state. He is admitted to the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Those credentials have framed much of his courtroom work and the matters he brings before judges and tribunals.

Boynton has been associated with Driggers Schultz & Herbst since the earlier stages of his career. He practices from that office in Michigan. Over decades he has handled cases that require familiarity with federal procedure and state practice alike. Colleagues note his steady presence in litigation calendars and hearings across local venues.

Outside the courtroom he has maintained active ties to the legal community. Boynton has been a member of the Oakland County Bar Association since 1983. That connection has kept him plugged into local developments, continuing education and the networks that sustain regional practice.

His caseload reflects the mix of admissions on his roster. Cases in federal courts, matters appearing before the tax tribunal and litigation in Michigan courts have comprised the bulk of his docket. He has navigated the differing rules and expectations of those forums by relying on a pragmatic approach to case management and advocacy. He is known for preparing materials that judges and opposing counsel can follow easily and for pursuing efficient resolution when the facts and law permit.

Clients and peers describe Boynton as a lawyer who operates in the tradition of steady courtroom representation rather than flash. He tends to work steadily through complex procedural issues and stays attentive to deadlines and filing requirements. That disciplined posture has informed his long tenure in practice.

Today Boynton continues to serve clients out of Driggers Schultz & Herbst PC. He represents clients in matters before Michigan state courts, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and the U.S. Tax Court, where his admissions allow him to present cases at both state and federal levels.
