About Timothy J
Timothy J Murphy earned his B.A. in political science from Rockhurst University in 1995 and completed his J.D. at the University of Missouri–Kansas City in 2000. He moved from the classroom to the courtroom in the years that followed. His academic background combined liberal arts and professional legal training and set the stage for a practice that spans state and federal matters.
After law school, Murphy established a practice that serves clients in the Midwest. He is admitted to practice in Missouri and Kansas and is also admitted to appear before the Eighth Circuit. Those admissions allow him to handle disputes at different levels of the judicial system. Over time he has built a practice responsive to procedural demands in both state courts and federal forums.
Murphy’s work involves appearances and filings across a range of court settings. He prepares pleadings, manages case schedules and navigates procedural rules in multiple jurisdictions. He represents clients before judges and clerks, and he handles the administrative and substantive steps that litigation requires. His dual-state admissions and federal appellate permission shape how he approaches case strategy and court procedure.
He practices from The Murphy Law Office. The firm is a platform for work in Missouri and Kansas courts and for cases that reach the Eighth Circuit. He spends time researching legal questions, drafting motions and attending hearings. His daily work is practical and procedural. It is focused on moving matters forward in an efficient and orderly way.
Clients and colleagues describe Murphy as pragmatic in his courtroom approach and methodical in case preparation. He balances written advocacy with oral argument and pays attention to the deadlines that govern litigation. He continues to maintain active admissions in Missouri, Kansas and the Eighth Circuit. He currently focuses on representing clients in state and federal courts across Missouri and Kansas.
