About Theresa C.
Theresa C. Gilbert has practiced law in Kentucky for more than three decades. She earned her J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law in 1990 and began her legal career the same year. The early years of her practice were spent at Denney, Morgan and Rather, where she worked as an associate. That role introduced her to the day-to-day demands of client representation and firm practice.
As an associate, Gilbert handled client matters and supported senior attorneys on a range of tasks. She logged courtroom time, prepared filings and worked on case strategy. Those formative years shaped how she approaches case management and client communication today. She learned the practical side of lawyering while building local relationships that proved important throughout her career.
In 1998 she became a partner at Gilbert Law Group PLLC. That move marked a shift from support work to firm leadership. Her responsibilities expanded to include managing cases, supervising staff and participating in firm decision-making. She has also taken on informal mentoring of newer lawyers, helping them adapt to practice demands and local rules.
Gilbert’s involvement in bar organizations spans many years. She served on the Fayette County Bar Association board of directors from 1997 to 2006 and was president of that association from 2005 to 2006. She remains active in the Fayette County Bar Association as well as in the Kentucky Bar Association and the Kentucky Justice Association. Those roles reflect continual engagement with the local legal community and the professional issues that shape practice in the state.
Her career reflects steady practice in Kentucky courts and an ongoing presence in professional circles. Over the years she has balanced client work with firm responsibilities and association service. Colleagues know her for consistent participation in bar activities and for maintaining a local practice that has endured through changes in law and procedure.
Gilbert operates from Gilbert Law Group PLLC. She represents and advises clients in matters before Kentucky tribunals and manages her firm’s legal work. Her current practice centers on representing clients in Kentucky.
