About P. Kevin

P. Kevin Hackworth came to law from a background in political science and stayed for the work in courtrooms. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at the University of Kentucky and continued there for his legal education, receiving a J.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Law. Those years in Lexington provided the academic foundation for a practice grounded in litigation.

After law school he entered private practice and, in 2019, joined Hughes & Coleman Injury Lawyers as a lawyer. He has built his practice at the firm over several years, handling matters that are filed in Kentucky state courts and in federal court. He is licensed to practice in Kentucky and is admitted to appear before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Hackworth’s work is concentrated on civil litigation on behalf of injured individuals. He represents clients in cases that arise from accidents and other injury-producing events and guides matters through discovery and trial when necessary. He appears in state court proceedings and has handled appellate filings in the Sixth Circuit, addressing procedural and substantive issues that follow a jury trial or summary judgment ruling.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing cases and attentive when dealing with clients. He approaches each file by building factual records, pursuing appropriate medical and expert evidence, and pressing legal issues in court filings. He also works on settlement negotiations when a resolution serves a client’s interests. The practice requires both courtroom readiness and a steady attention to documents, and those dual demands shape his daily work.

Hackworth’s education in political science and law informs his approach to litigation. He draws on classroom instruction in legal analysis while relying on courtroom experience to test legal theories. Over time he has navigated motions practice, depositions, and trial preparation. He has been part of a team at Hughes & Coleman that manages a high volume of injury matters and collaborates with investigators, medical professionals, and other lawyers on complex files.

Outside the courtroom, he maintains professional memberships. He remains based at Hughes & Coleman Injury Lawyers, where he continues to litigate for clients in Kentucky and in matters that proceed to the Sixth Circuit. He currently practices personal injury litigation at Hughes & Coleman Injury Lawyers, representing individuals in Kentucky and before the Sixth Circuit.
