About Sarah L.
Sarah L. Digby took a direct route from social science into law. She earned a B.S. in psychology and criminal justice from Indiana University Bloomington, then went on to Vanderbilt University Law School where she received her J.D. Those academic choices point to an interest in how law touches individual lives and communities. She left school prepared to work in courtrooms and family homes, not just in offices.
Her early legal years were hands-on. In 2011 she worked as a legal assistant for Judge Grant Hawkins, then spent 2012 interning with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. Those positions gave her exposure to litigation and courtroom procedure at an early stage. In 2013 she joined the Gordon Law Group as an associate and began to build a client practice. The next year she became a partner at Reist & Maples, PLC, a step that expanded her responsibilities to case management and firm operations.
In 2017 Digby opened her own firm, Digby Family Law, PLC. Running a small firm has meant wearing many hats: client counselor, case strategist and the person who oversees day-to-day operations. Her practice is based in Tennessee, where she has developed a practice centered on family law matters. That work often requires balancing legal strategy with practical concerns for clients navigating divorce, custody and related disputes.
Outside the office she has remained active in professional and community organizations. She holds membership in the Belmont University College of Law American Inn of Court and has been involved with the Tennessee Bar Association’s Family Law Section, serving on its Executive Council. She volunteers for the National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association (CASA) and has taken part in Tennessee Bar Association volunteer efforts. Locally she is a member of the Nashville Bar Association Young Lawyers Division and participates in Women Own Business.
Colleagues describe her approach as methodical and hands-on; clients encounter a lawyer who combines courtroom experience with volunteer work that connects to the issues her clients face. She has moved through roles in courts, prosecutor’s offices and private firms before starting her own practice. Today she leads Digby Family Law, PLC and handles family law matters in Tennessee. She currently concentrates on family law matters at Digby Family Law, PLC.
