About Mitchell R.
Mitchell R. Miller came to law after a nontraditional route through the music business and retail management. He earned a B.S. in Business, Recording Industry Management & Entrepreneurship from Middle Tennessee State University in 2012, then returned to school for a J.D. from Wake Forest University School of Law, graduating in 2017. At Wake Forest he studied law with an emphasis in business and litigation. During law school he worked as a research assistant to Professor Tanya Marsh, served as a Westlaw student representative and later assisted in teaching Secured Transactions.
His early career combined business roles and music-industry internships. He held positions in store management at Starbucks and in sales at ServiceSource, and he worked in promotions and copyrights at Compass Records and Sony/ATV Music Publishing. He was a partner at Trends & Traditions | Design Nashville in 2007, which gave him small-business perspective before he shifted toward law.
While in law school and immediately after, he took on several clerk and associate positions that exposed him to litigation and transactional work. He was a summer law clerk at Spilman Thomas & Battle in 2015 and a summer associate at Bone McAllester Norton in 2016. In 2017 he served as a contract lawyer on breach of warranty litigation for Nissan Motor Company and founded The Law Office of Mitchell R. Miller the same year. He later worked as a lawyer at Legility in 2019, adding experience in litigation support and legal operations.
Miller maintains active memberships in the Tennessee Bar Association, the Nashville Bar Association and the Williamson County Bar Association. He also belongs to the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County and Junior Achievement of Middle Tennessee. Those roles reflect ongoing ties to both civic organizations and the local bar community.
His practice blends business and litigation elements. He has handled warranty disputes and other commercial matters, and he taught secured transactions while completing his J.D., which informs his approach to creditor-debtor and contract issues. Experience across in-house contract work, law firm clerkships and legal operations gives him an understanding of how cases move from document review to courtroom presentation.
He is licensed to practice in Tennessee and admitted to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. He founded The Law Office of Mitchell R. Miller in 2017 and continues to operate the firm, focusing his practice on civil litigation and business-related disputes.
