About Ryan D
Ryan D Templeton earned his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2014. He moved into the South Carolina legal community immediately after graduation, taking a law clerk position in the South Carolina Judicial Department where he handled legal research and assisted judges on a range of state-court matters.
After his clerkship he joined the 1st Circuit Solicitor's Office as an assistant solicitor in 2016. In that role he gained courtroom experience and worked on prosecutions at the trial level. The work required managing case files, drafting motions, and presenting evidence in court. Those years in the solicitor's office gave him practical exposure to the routines of trial preparation and to the dynamics of advocacy before juries and judges.
In 2019 he assumed two concurrent roles that shaped the next phase of his career. He served as a part-time magistrate in Dorchester County, presiding over magistrate court matters and handling the day-to-day responsibilities that come with that bench. At the same time he joined Templeton Mims & Ward as a partner. That combination of judicial experience and private practice offered him perspectives from both sides of the bench and informed how he approaches case strategy and courtroom procedure.
Templeton also holds a Department of Defense Secret Clearance, a credential that signals an ability to work on matters involving classified information and sensitive government processes. He is admitted to practice in South Carolina and continues to maintain ties to the state's legal institutions. Colleagues describe him as steady in court and methodical in preparation.
His practice at Templeton Mims & Ward is built on years of state-court experience, from magistrate dockets to jury trials. He has handled a range of matters that require attention to procedural detail and familiarity with South Carolina's criminal and civil rules. He balances trial work with case management and client counseling, drawing on the practical lessons of his earlier public service.
He continues to live and work in South Carolina and to apply his courtroom experience to cases handled at Templeton Mims & Ward. His current practice centers on litigation in South Carolina state courts.
