About Peter E
Peter E. Koenig studied philosophy and economics as an undergraduate before turning to law. He earned a B.A. from Ohio University in 1978 and received his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1981.
He began his legal career in clerkships. In 1979 he worked for Robert W. Ent, followed by a stint at Manley Burke LPA in 1980. He clerked for the Hon. Gilbert Bettman at the Hamilton Court of Common Pleas in 1981. Those early years gave him courtroom exposure and hands-on experience with trial procedure.
After the clerkships he entered private practice. He joined Simon Namanworth & Bohlen as an associate in 1982 and moved to Barron Peck Bennie & Schlemmer Co., LPA in 1984. By 1986 he was an associate and later partner at Strauss & Troy Co. LPA. He helped found Barrett & Weber Co. LPA in 1990 and later served as vice president and shareholder at Buechner Haffer Meyers & Koenig Co., L.P.A. beginning in 1996. Those roles combined management responsibilities with casework across a range of matters.
Koenig has sought continuing training in trial work. He completed a two-week intensive national session in advanced trial advocacy in Boulder, Colorado through the National Institute for Trial Advocacy and took a three-day professional program on deposition skills in Cleveland. That training complements decades of courtroom practice and client representation.
He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Sixth Circuit, and in the states of Ohio and Kentucky. Outside the office he has been active in civic and cultural organizations in Cincinnati. He has served on the Board of Governors and as past president of the University Club of Cincinnati, and he has been on the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee of the Cincinnati Memorial Hall Society since 2013. He has also served on the boards of the Society for the Preservation of Music Hall, the Cincinnati Opera Guild, and the Cincinnati Preservation Association, and he has been involved with The Cincinnatus Association.
Koenig continues to practice law, representing clients in matters brought in the courts where he is admitted.
