About Steven L. Custenborder

Steven L. Custenborder Jr. studied at The Ohio State University in Columbus before moving to Emory University for his law degree. He earned a B.A. at Ohio State and a J.D. from Emory, foundations that shaped his early approach to legal work and research. His academic years included intensive legal writing and classroom debate that he has cited as important to his development as a lawyer.

After law school he entered private practice. Early work involved typical law firm duties: client interviews, drafting pleadings, and attending hearings. Those formative years gave him experience in the day-to-day demands of representing clients and managing files. He moved through roles that required both detailed legal analysis and practical problem solving.

Colleagues say he brings a methodical style to case preparation. He approaches matters by breaking them into discrete problems. That approach affects how he organizes discovery, prepares witnesses, and frames arguments. He balances attention to legal precedent with the practical realities clients face when legal issues intersect with business and personal concerns.

Over time he has worked on a range of matters handled by the firms he has been part of. He has handled research-intensive projects and routine client counseling alike. That mix of experiences has shaped a practice that values clarity in writing and steadiness in court or negotiation settings. He has maintained ties to both his Midwestern undergraduate roots and the broader legal training he received at Emory.

Today he is an attorney at Wood Lamping. At the firm he is part of a team that handles a broad array of matters for individuals and businesses. His role involves advising clients, drafting and reviewing legal documents, and participating in dispute resolution when matters proceed beyond informal negotiation. He draws on his academic background and earlier practical work when preparing cases and advising clients.

Outside of strict legal practice he has taken part in professional discussions and firm initiatives that address how law firms manage client relationships and case workflows. Those efforts reflect a steady attention to practice management and client service rather than public profiles or awards.

He currently practices at Wood Lamping, representing clients in matters handled by the firm.
