About Jesse E
Jesse E Knowlden took an indirect route into law. He earned a B.A. from Pennsylvania State University — Altoona in 2013 and completed his J.D. at the University of Cincinnati College of Law in 2019. Those years set the timing for a rapid entry into litigation work soon after graduation.
Early in law school he sought work that put him close to criminal justice questions. In 2017 he served as a fellow at the Ohio Innocence Project. That role involved investigating claims of wrongful conviction and assisting in case development. The fellowship deepened his exposure to post-conviction procedures and the factual investigation that can alter the course of a case.
After law school he joined Cohen, Todd, Kite & Stanford as an associate in 2019. At the firm he has handled matters that require courtroom presence and careful appellate and post-conviction filings. His time at the Innocence Project continued to inform his approach to cases. He combines case investigation with litigation work, often addressing both trial- and post-trial-stage issues.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparation and precise in writing. He has worked on case teams that prepare briefs, manage discovery disputes and handle evidentiary hearings. That practical experience in criminal matters and collateral review cases shapes how he evaluates client options and constructs legal strategies. He is licensed to practice in Ohio and works within that jurisdiction.
Knowlden has kept a steady presence in bar- and community-related activities since beginning his professional career. He has engaged in collaborative work with investigators and experts, and he participates in courtroom practice across trial and appellate levels. Those contacts and experiences inform his courtroom tactics and client counseling.
Today he practices at Cohen, Todd, Kite & Stanford, LLC. He draws on his fellowship experience in post-conviction investigation and his trial and appellate practice to handle criminal defense, post-conviction review and related litigation matters in Ohio.
He is currently based out of the firm’s Ohio office and continues to handle cases that involve trial advocacy, appellate briefing, and post-conviction motions and hearings.
