About Nicholas Arthur
Nicholas Arthur Matlach began his academic path at Flagler College in 2001 and completed a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2005. He entered The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law in 2006 and earned his juris doctor in 2010. Those years framed an interest in the intersection of law and technology that would shape his later career.
Early in his professional life he took positions at several institutions that bridge public and private work. In 2005 he worked at the Supreme Court of the United States. After law school he moved into roles at IBM in 2010 and later at Hasbro, Inc. in 2012. Those assignments exposed him to corporate legal work and the compliance demands of technology and consumer-facing businesses.
Matlach transitioned into private practice and, in 2023, established ioLiberum Law Office P.C., where he serves as owner and lawyer. He is licensed to practice in Rhode Island, Connecticut, North Carolina and Massachusetts. That multi-state admission supports representation of clients across several jurisdictions and informs how he approaches regulatory and transactional matters.
He holds professional certifications in information security and privacy. Matlach is a CISSP through ISC2 and has earned the CIPP/IT credential from the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Those qualifications reflect formal training in cybersecurity principles and data protection law, elements that recur in his client work.
Outside the office he participates in bar and industry groups. He is a current member of the Rhode Island Bar Association and is listed with the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers. Since 2020 he has served on the executive committee of the Content Delivery and Security Association. That role places him in conversations about security practices and content distribution standards alongside technologists and service providers.
Colleagues and clients encounter a lawyer whose experience spans government, global corporations and a boutique firm environment. He draws on corporate legal work done at IBM and Hasbro, the institutional perspective gained at the Supreme Court, and technical credentials in privacy and security. At ioLiberum Law Office P.C. he handles matters involving technology law, data privacy and security, and related corporate and compliance issues.
He currently practices at ioLiberum Law Office P.C., where his work covers technology law, data privacy and security.
