About Stephen A.
Stephen A. Izzi built a legal career that began in the classroom and moved steadily into both in-house and private practice roles. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in political science and economics from Providence College in 1980, then continued at the University of New Hampshire School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 1983. Those early academic years shaped a practical approach to problem solving and the steady pace that would mark his subsequent work.
After law school he entered practice and, by the late 1980s, was working inside the insurance industry. In 1988 he served as a staff lawyer for CIGNA Insurance Company. That role placed him on the side of corporate legal operations, handling matters that required coordination across business and legal teams. The in-house experience gave him daily exposure to claim-related processes and corporate risk assessment.
Izzi moved back into private practice in the early 1990s. In 1992 he became a partner at Holland & Knight LLP, joining a national platform and managing client matters there. Later, in 2006, he took a partner role at Moses, Afonso, Ryan Ltd., a regional firm with a broad client base. Across those years he balanced client representation with the administrative and mentoring duties that accompany partnership. He worked on matters that crossed municipal and state lines and spent time handling issues for clients based in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
In 2020 he opened his own firm, the Law Office of Stephen A. Izzi, P.C. The move returned him to a smaller, more autonomous practice setting. As owner he directs the day-to-day operations of the office and manages client intake, case strategy, and file supervision. The office provides a base from which he advises and represents clients in the jurisdictions where he is licensed.
Colleagues and former clients describe Izzi as methodical and steady in his work. He draws on decades of experience in corporate and firm environments to make practical legal judgments. He has maintained a consistent presence in New England legal circles and continues to practice in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
