About Micah U.
Micah U. Buchdahl built a career that moves between media, sports and the law. He studied journalism at Temple University, earning a B.A. in 1981, and returned to Temple for his J.D., conferred in 1988. That combination of reporting and legal training shaped the path he would follow.
He began in sports public relations and team management. In 1985 he worked as assistant director of public relations for the Washington Capitals. A year later he took on general manager duties for the New York Express soccer team. He also spent time in journalism, reporting for The Baltimore Sun in 1987. Those early roles put him in the center of sports operations and media relations before he moved fully into legal work.
After law school, Buchdahl’s career blended court work, league service and in-house counsel positions. By 1991 he was serving as an arbitrator, mediator and hearing master for the Philadelphia Municipal Court, a role for which he holds relevant mediation and arbitration certification from that court. He joined the National Basketball Association in 1992 as director of NBA Photos and later worked as associate counsel for the Philadelphia Flyers and Spectacor in 1995. He continued supporting sports organizations in publications and communications roles while practicing law, including a publications associate position with the Flyers in 1998.
He has also spent time in private consulting. In 1996 he operated as a lawyer in legal and marketing consulting, and in 2002 he served as president of HTMLawyers, Inc. Parallel to his practice he has taught and spoken on law practice topics. He has been on the faculty of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute since 1998 and maintains involvement in bar education.
Buchdahl participates in professional organizations that intersect with practice management and professional responsibility. He is a current member of the American Bar Association and is noted as a past chair of the ABA Law Practice Division. He holds membership in the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers since 2022 and serves as vice president at Adath Emanu-El beginning in 2016.
He practices in Pennsylvania and is listed at HTM Lawyers, Inc. His professional profile shows repeated work in dispute resolution, sports and media-related legal matters, and law practice education. He currently practices law in Pennsylvania, handling arbitration and mediation along with legal matters related to sports and media.
