About Arthur J.

Arthur J. Abramowitz is an attorney whose career spans decades and includes leadership roles in several legal organizations. He earned a B.A. from Rutgers University–Camden in 1969 and a J.D. from Temple University Beasley School of Law in 1972. Those credentials set the stage for a practice grounded in federal and state litigation arenas.

Over the years Abramowitz has practiced in New Jersey and in a range of federal courts. He is admitted to the New Jersey bar and has appearances in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. His activity in these courts reflects a long-standing engagement with matters that often cross state and federal lines.

His firm affiliations include time at Cozen O'Connor, where he is listed as a lawyer in 2000, and later as a shareholder at Sherman, Silverstein, Kohl, Rose & Podolsky, P.A., beginning in 2013. Those positions are part of a career that combines private practice and professional service. He has served in roles that put him in contact with judges, fellow practitioners and the business community in New Jersey.

Abramowitz has taken on leadership posts in a number of bar and civic groups. He served as president of the Camden County Bar Association and of the Federal Bar Association for the State of New Jersey. He also chaired the Lawyer’s Advisory Committee and was president of the Bankruptcy Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association. He has been active in the Greater Cherry Hill Chamber of Commerce and has held membership on the board of the American Judicature Society. Nationally, he has been an elected delegate to the American Bar Association and is a Fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy.

Those roles underscore an ongoing interest in the institutions that shape practice and procedure. Colleagues and clients have relied on his courtroom experience and his familiarity with bankruptcy and insolvency matters. He has handled contested matters in bankruptcy courts and related litigation in district and appellate courts.

He practices at Sherman, Silverstein, Kohl, Rose & Podolsky, P.A., where his work centers on bankruptcy, creditors’ rights and related litigation.
