About Mark K
Mark K Thompson is an attorney based in Minnesota who earned his law degree from William Mitchell College of Law in 1999 after completing a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Saint Thomas in 1996. His academic background blends political science and English literature at the undergraduate level with a formal legal education that concluded at William Mitchell.
Early in his career he held dual roles that combined practice and teaching. In 1997 he worked as an associate at Dudley and Smith, gaining hands-on experience in a firm setting. That same year he served as an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota Law School, teaching and mentoring law students while maintaining ties to practice.
In 2012 he became the principal lawyer of MKT Law, PLC. In that role he manages the firm’s operations and directs client matters. Colleagues and clients have relied on him for case strategy, case management, and courtroom preparation. His tenure at MKT Law reflects years spent moving from junior associate to firm leadership.
He is admitted to practice in Minnesota and is authorized to appear before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Thompson maintains active memberships in the Minnesota State Bar Association, the Ramsey County Bar Association and the American Bar Association. These memberships keep him involved in the legal community at both the local and national levels.
Thompson’s mix of teaching and practice has shaped how he approaches legal work. Time in the classroom informed his attention to legal writing and analysis. Work in private practice refined his skills in client counseling and litigation preparation. He has continued to balance those elements as he leads MKT Law.
He remains active in professional circles and continues to engage with local bar organizations. He is principal at MKT Law, PLC. His practice centers on matters in Minnesota and in federal court, including appearances before the Eighth Circuit.
