About Tom

Tom Hagler began his professional path in Minnesota classrooms. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities before completing a Juris Doctor at Hamline University School of Law. Those academic stops set the stage for a career grounded in the state's legal system.

After law school he entered practice in Minnesota. Over time he gained admission not only to the Minnesota bar but also to federal forums. He is admitted to the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota and to the Eighth Circuit. That combination of state and federal admissions shaped the cases he took and the courtroom work he pursued.

Early in his career he handled matters that required navigation of both state statutes and federal procedure. He has appeared in district court proceedings and handled appeals that reached the Eighth Circuit. His courtroom experience includes pretrial motion practice and oral argument. He has worked on matters that required coordinating filings across different court systems and managing deadlines under varying procedural rules.

He later established his own practice, operating as Tom Hagler Law. The firm handles client matters from intake through resolution. In running a solo or small firm environment he manages administrative, strategic and litigation tasks. He draws on his courtroom background to advise clients on litigation options and procedural strategy. He also prepares filings required for both state and federal proceedings and represents clients at hearings.

Colleagues and opposing counsel describe him as pragmatic in the courtroom, preferring clear legal argument over flourish. He approaches cases by identifying key legal questions and mapping the practical steps needed to address them. He has built a practice rooted in Minnesota's courts while also engaging the federal avenues available to litigants here.

He maintains memberships in professional circles relevant to his work and keeps current on developments affecting practice in Minnesota and the Eighth Circuit. In his day-to-day practice he oversees case strategy, client communication and court appearances. He handles state and federal litigation matters in Minnesota.
