About Christopher T.
Christopher T. Porter earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota Law School. He entered the legal field after law school and has practiced in Minnesota courts and in federal court. His training at a major state law school gave him exposure to trial practice, legal research and the procedural rules that govern civil and criminal matters.
After completing his J.D., Porter secured admission to the Minnesota bar and later gained admission to the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota. Those admissions allow him to represent clients in state and federal matters across the region. The federal credential is particularly relevant for cases that raise questions under federal statutes or constitutional provisions.
Porter joined Trepanier MacGillis Battina P.A. in 2023 as a lawyer. At the firm he has taken on responsibilities typical for litigation counsel and client advisors. His work has included preparing court filings, engaging in discovery, and appearing before judges in the District of Minnesota and in state court. He handles both courtroom tasks and out-of-court preparations that support case strategy and client decision-making.
He maintains current memberships in professional organizations, remaining connected to the broader legal community. That involvement keeps him informed about changes in law and practice. It also provides a forum for exchange with colleagues and for staying up to date on procedural developments that affect clients in Minnesota.
Colleagues describe Porter as methodical in his preparation. He approaches matters by breaking problems into discrete issues and addressing each with targeted legal analysis. His written work aims for clarity. In hearings he tends to favor straightforward argument and direct answers to the court’s questions.
Porter’s practice is based at Trepanier MacGillis Battina P.A., where he represents clients in matters filed in Minnesota courts and in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota. He continues to handle litigation-related work and client counseling through his role at the firm.
