About Joshua
Joshua Franklin built his legal foundation in two distinct classrooms. He earned a B.A. in political science from Morehouse College in 2017 and completed his J.D. at Mitchell Hamline School of Law in 2020. Those years shaped his approach to legal work and introduced him to both courtroom procedure and client-facing practice.
While still in law school, Franklin took a judicial externship in 2017 at U.S. Bank. That early, hands-on experience put him inside institutional legal processes and offered a close look at how commercial entities interact with courts and regulators. It also gave him practical exposure to case preparation and legal research under pressure.
After earning his law degree, Franklin joined Barnes & Thornburg as an associate in 2020. He spent that initial post-law-school year working within a larger firm environment. The role required adapting to firm procedures and collaborating on matters that crossed practice areas. In 2021 he moved into an of counsel position at Revering Anderson, a change that expanded his responsibilities and offered a different perspective on client management and case strategy.
Across those roles Franklin gained experience that spans litigation support, client counseling, and the mechanics of transactional work. He has worked on matters that required drafting, motion practice, and coordinated work with internal and external stakeholders. Colleagues describe him as methodical in his preparation and practical in his courtroom presentations.
Franklin’s career so far follows a steady progression from academic training to practical roles in both firm and institutional settings. He has navigated the transition from law student to associate and then to a more senior advisory role, taking on tasks that range from legal writing to client meetings and case strategy sessions. That progression has also kept him tied to Minnesota, the jurisdiction where he practices.
He is presently based at Franklin & Associates. There he continues to handle matters for clients in Minnesota, applying the procedural knowledge and practical courtroom experience he developed early in his career.
