About Jeffrey Robert
Jeffrey Robert Domingues built a career that moves steadily from classrooms to courtrooms. He blends an academic interest in history and human rights with hands-on legal work. The result is a lawyer who understands both context and procedure.
Domingues began his academic journey at Carleton College, where he earned a B.A. in history with an ancient and medieval concentration in 2015. He went on to the University of Minnesota Law School and received his J.D. in 2019. At Minnesota Law he studied immigration law and human rights, courses that shaped his early professional choices and informed his approach to client matters.
His first roles after law school were in clerkships and small firm practice. In 2019 he worked at the Dennis J. Holisak Law Office, handling day-to-day client issues and gaining experience in legal writing and case preparation. The following year he served as a law clerk in the Minnesota Sixth Judicial District in the chambers of the Honorable Eric L. Hylden. That position exposed him to courtroom procedures, judicial decision-making, and the pacing of litigation in the state system.
In 2022 Domingues joined Burns & Hansen P.A. as an associate lawyer. At the firm he stepped into a broader array of matters and took on responsibilities typical of an associate: client counseling, drafting pleadings, and appearing in court on behalf of clients. Colleagues describe him as methodical in his preparation and careful in his courtroom presentations. His prior clerkship experience helps him anticipate the kinds of questions judges raise and how to frame arguments accordingly.
Though his law school concentration points to immigration and human rights issues, Domingues’s work has touched on several strands of Minnesota practice. He handles litigation tasks and client advocacy that require both legal research and factual investigation. He also draws on historical and human rights perspectives when evaluating cases that raise broader social or policy questions. That background can change how evidence is weighed and how narratives are presented to judges and opposing counsel.
Outside the office he maintains professional memberships in state legal organizations and stays engaged with continuing legal education. He practices in Minnesota and is active in matters that arise in the state’s courts. His current practice focuses on immigration-related matters and civil litigation in Minnesota.
