About Marcus
Marcus Thompson studied journalism and advertising at the University of Georgia before turning to law. He earned a J.D. from Stetson University College of Law and began his legal career soon afterward. Those first years shaped the practical side of his practice and his approach to client work.
He started in a small firm setting, working as a law clerk and associate at the Law Office of Nicholas M. Athanason, Esq., P.A., in 2012. The role gave him early exposure to case preparation, client intake and the day-to-day demands of a local practice. Two years later he struck out on his own and opened the Law Office of Marcus Thompson, PLLC. Running a solo practice tested different skills: case management, business administration and direct client counseling.
By the mid-2010s Thompson broadened his professional affiliations. He joined the St. Johns County Bar Association in 2015 and became a member of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida in 2017, which allows him to appear in that federal forum. These memberships reflect the variety of matters he encountered and the procedural ground he covers when a case requires federal filing.
In 2019 Thompson took on two new roles. He worked as an associate at Jackson Law Group and also served as managing partner at Old City Law, PLLC. The switch from solo practice to firm roles adjusted his daily focus. He moved from running an office alone to supervising teams and coordinating cases across different practice areas. The job titles track a shift toward management responsibilities alongside continued client work.
Thompson joined Trinity Law & Title as managing lawyer in 2022. He also holds certification as a title agent with Old Republic National Title Insurance Company. That credential ties directly to the title and closing functions of his current position. It is a technical qualification that sits alongside his courtroom membership and earlier litigation experience.
Over the course of his career he has combined hands-on client work, firm leadership and credentialed title services. He has practiced in Florida courts at both the county and federal level. Today he is based at Trinity Law & Title, where his work centers on title services and real estate-related legal matters.
