About Erik
Erik Peterson is an attorney who combines academic study and courtroom practice. He trained at the University of Kentucky, where he earned a master’s degree in 2004 and his law degree in 2007. Those years shaped his approach to legal work: detailed, disciplined and oriented toward litigation practice.
After law school, Peterson established a practice that spans two states. He is admitted to the bars of Kentucky and California. Over time he moved into roles that bridge trial preparation and courtroom advocacy. He has worked alongside litigators on complex matters and provided counsel on procedural strategy.
Peterson serves as Of Counsel at Mehr Fairbanks Trial Lawyers. In that capacity he draws on his academic background and trial experience to support case development. He handles research, motion practice, discovery strategy and courtroom preparation. Colleagues describe him as steady and precise in the way he prepares witnesses and documentary evidence for trial.
His work tends to center on litigation tasks that require close attention to process and timing. He spends considerable time drafting pleadings, arguing motions and taking or defending depositions. He also assists in trial planning and often participates in hearings and trial testimony. That day-to-day courtroom involvement reflects his longer-standing interest in the mechanics of trial work.
Peterson’s education at the University of Kentucky provided both theoretical and practical grounding. The M.A. encouraged rigorous analysis and the J.D. delivered practical legal training. Those elements appear in the cases he helps prepare; they also surface in the way he mentors junior attorneys and coordinates with expert witnesses.
He maintains active licensure in both Kentucky and California and practices law from the Mehr Fairbanks Trial Lawyers offices. He currently practices as Of Counsel at Mehr Fairbanks Trial Lawyers, handling trial litigation and pretrial strategy.
