About Cynthia

Cynthia Reed began her academic life in music, earning a Bachelor of Arts from Temple University in 1989 before turning to the study of law. She received her J.D. from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 1995 and moved into practice in the years that followed.

After law school, Reed established herself in the Pennsylvania legal community. She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and is also admitted before the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Those credentials have allowed her to handle matters at both the state and federal levels when cases require it.

Her professional involvement includes current membership in the Pennsylvania State Bar, the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Lawyers, and the American Bankruptcy Institute. She uses those affiliations to stay current on changes in bankruptcy law and procedure and to participate in continuing legal education programs offered by the groups.

Reed's work centers on consumer bankruptcy matters. She assists individual clients who are navigating personal insolvency questions. Her practice encompasses case assessment, preparation of filings, and client counseling about the options under the bankruptcy code. She represents individuals in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases and handles the procedural work that accompanies those matters.

Colleagues describe Reed as methodical in her approach to case preparation. She focuses on clear communication with clients so they understand the steps in the process and the likely outcomes. At the same time, she tracks developments in bankruptcy law through the professional organizations to which she belongs, attending seminars and reviewing new opinions that may affect how a case should be handled.

Admitted before the Third Circuit, Reed is positioned to pursue appellate avenues when circumstances warrant. That admission also complements her trial- and hearing-level work in federal bankruptcy courts in the region. Outside of court, she spends time educating clients about alternatives to bankruptcy where appropriate and coordinating with creditors' counsel to streamline resolutions.

Cynthia Reed continues to practice in Pennsylvania, handling consumer bankruptcy filings and related matters for individuals seeking debt relief and resolution.
