About Bartley

Bartley Hagerman earned his undergraduate degree from Miami University of Ohio in 2007 and completed his J.D. at the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law in 2011. He left school prepared for courtroom work and entered practice in Kentucky soon after finishing law school.

His early career placed him in litigation environments. He developed core trial skills working on contested matters that required discovery, motion practice and courtroom appearances. Over time those responsibilities expanded to include federal practice and appellate filings. He is admitted to practice in Kentucky, to the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky, and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Hagerman works as an associate lawyer at Mehr Fairbanks Trial Lawyers. In that role he handles a range of civil litigation tasks. He prepares cases for trial, takes and defends depositions, drafts pleadings and motions, and represents clients at hearings. His day-to-day work mixes client meetings, case preparation and courtroom time. Colleagues describe him as methodical in trial preparation and precise in drafting court submissions.

He maintains active membership in the State Bar of Kentucky and belongs to the Kentucky Justice Association. Those affiliations place him in regular contact with other trial lawyers in the state and provide opportunities to stay current on practice developments and continuing legal education. He participates in professional activities that supplement his practice rather than serve as public-facing leadership roles.

Clients who work with him encounter a lawyer comfortable in both state and federal settings. He handles procedural work and substantive litigation tasks, moving matters from filing through discovery and onto trial when necessary. His appellate admissions allow him to file briefs and appear in the Sixth Circuit when cases require that level of review.

Outside the courtroom he spends time refining case strategy and preparing witnesses. His approach emphasizes thorough preparation—detailed factual investigation combined with careful legal analysis. The result is a practice oriented toward resolving disputes through trial-ready advocacy.

He currently practices at Mehr Fairbanks Trial Lawyers in Kentucky and concentrates his work on civil litigation in state and federal courts.
