About America Ashley

America Ashley Cross built her academic foundation at Auburn University, where she studied political science before turning to law. She earned her Juris Doctor in 2000 from Mercer University’s Walter F. George School of Law. The J.D. capped a period of formal study that prepared her for practice across state lines.

Her career spans work in both Alabama and Georgia. She is admitted to practice in each state and has navigated the procedural differences that come with dual jurisdiction work. Colleagues describe her approach as steady and procedural. She has spent more than two decades applying classroom training to real-world problems since graduating law school in 2000.

Cross’s early years after law school included court appearances and client counseling that built a practical base for later work. Over time she developed an understanding of state statutes and local court practices. That experience informs how she evaluates cases and prepares matters for litigation or settlement. She tends to break complicated issues into manageable steps for clients and opposing counsel.

She is currently associated with Arey & Cross P.C., where she practices alongside other attorneys. At the firm she handles matters that arise under Alabama and Georgia law, representing individuals and organizations. Her role there involves both courtroom work and out-of-court problem solving. The firm setting has allowed her to collaborate on multi-jurisdictional matters and coordinate strategies when state lines are at issue.

Peers and clients have noted her attention to procedural detail. In court filings and hearings she focuses on clarity and timeliness. She aims to give clients a clear picture of likely outcomes and the next practical steps. That approach can be particularly useful in jurisdictions where local rules and timing have an outsized effect on case progress.

Outside courtroom appearances she maintains the professional routines that keep a practice responsive. Case preparation, local rule research and client communication are regular parts of her practice. She has practiced law across Alabama and Georgia for more than 25 years and continues to handle matters arising in both states.

She practices from Arey & Cross P.C., representing clients in matters governed by Alabama and Georgia law.
