About William R. Stewart

William R. Stewart III earned his J.D. from Widener University Delaware School of Law in 2004 after completing a B.A. in political science at LaSalle University in 2001. He moved quickly from law school into practice, joining Holsten & Associates in 2005 and then Reger Rizzo & Darnall, LLP in 2007. Early years in private firms gave him courtroom exposure and routine casework that shaped his approach to day-to-day litigation.

In 2010 he went in-house, taking a position with Geico Insurance Companys, where he handled defense matters and claims-related work. That role added an insurer’s perspective to his background and broadened his experience in managing files and assessing liability. He returned to private practice in 2016 as a lawyer at Nitsche & Fredricks, handling a range of civil litigation tasks and trial preparation.

Stewart became a partner at Pratcher Krayer in 2023. The move to partnership marked a shift into firm leadership and client management. Partner duties expanded his responsibilities beyond individual casework to include mentoring junior lawyers and participating in strategic decisions at the firm level.

He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and Delaware, and in the federal courts for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the Federal District of Delaware. Those admissions allow him to handle matters at both state and federal levels across the region. His courtroom experience spans hearings and trials in state courts and appearances in federal venues.

Colleagues describe his work as steady and procedural, favoring careful preparation over theatrical arguments. He has handled insurance defense and general civil litigation matters, and his background combines both in-house insurance work and defense-side practice. That combination informs how he evaluates claims and prepares for litigation timelines.

Outside of casework, Stewart’s career path shows a mix of private firm and corporate roles. He has moved between environments that emphasize different skills: litigation strategy, file management, and client counseling. Those shifts helped him develop a practical sense for balancing the legal and business aspects of a matter.

He practices at Pratcher Krayer, where he manages litigation files and advises clients on disputes in Pennsylvania and Delaware. He currently concentrates his practice on civil defense and related litigation matters.
