During his time at UC Hastings, he served as the Managing Editor for the Communications & Entertainment Law Journal from 1981 to 1982.

Mr. Edlin is an active member of the California State Bar Association and the San Francisco Bar Association. He has served on the California Bar Association's Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation and was formerly the Chair of the San Francisco Bar Association's Judiciary Committee.
