About William
William Melton earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Idaho College of Law, completing the degree in 2019 after beginning studies in 2017. At law school he took courses common to municipal and civil practice and participated in practical legal training. The academic record is the foundation of his work in Utah.
Early in his career he spent time at the Utah County Lawyer’s Office as a Deputy County Lawyer Intern in 2019. That role placed him inside county government operations, where he drafted memoranda, assisted on public records and municipal matters, and supported more senior lawyers on day-to-day legal issues facing county departments. The internship offered direct exposure to how local law is applied and enforced.
Following his time in county government he moved into private practice. He is admitted to practice in Utah. His experience since law school has been built around serving clients in state-level matters and responding to the procedural demands of local courts and administrative bodies. Colleagues describe him as methodical in legal research and careful in preparing court filings.
Melton eventually established a practice operating under the name Melton Law. The firm serves clients in the region and handles a range of civil matters that arise in state and local settings. He has taken on cases that require coordination with government entities and has worked on matters that touch on administrative processes.
Outside of litigation and client work, he maintains ties to the legal community and continues to attend professional events and continuing legal education. That engagement helps him stay current on changes in Utah law and court procedure.
In his office he balances casework with advising clients on practical next steps. He is known to take time to explain procedural options and likely timelines. His colleagues and clients see him as a lawyer who handles routine and complex filings with attention to detail.
He currently practices at Melton Law in Utah and concentrates his work on matters that arise in state courts and administrative forums.
