About William J Connelly
William J Connelly III built his legal foundation at Syracuse University and St. John’s University School of Law. He earned a B.S. in biology from Syracuse in 1988 and a J.D. from St. John’s in 1994. Those early years set a practical tone. The science background would later prove relevant to his work before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
He entered public service soon after law school. In 1995 he served as a municipal prosecutor in Shrewsbury. That courtroom work sharpened his trial instincts. Connelly moved into firm leadership in the 2000s. He became a partner at Ronan, Tuzzio & Giannone in 2003 and later joined Catalina & Associates in 2001 as part of a sequence of private-practice roles. In 2008 he launched his own firm as owner and managing partner. Several years after opening his practice, he took on an of-counsel position at Maldjian Law Group LLC in 2014, broadening the range of engagements he accepts while maintaining his own office.
He is a registered patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. That registration complements his admissions in both New York and New Jersey and informs the kinds of matters he accepts. He has been active in bar and local legal organizations for many years. His memberships include the Monmouth Bar Association and the New York State Bar, records showing involvement dating back to the mid-1990s.
Across municipal prosecution, firm partnerships and private practice, Connelly has mixed litigation work with intellectual property matters that draw on his science training.
