About Leslie

Leslie Posnock began her legal journey in classrooms far from the courthouse. She studied Russian history at the University of Pennsylvania, earning a B.A. in 1977. She moved on to law school at American University and received her J.D. in 1981. Those academic years set the stage for a career that has crossed state lines and courtrooms.

Her early work took her directly into public defense. In 1984 she joined the Defender Association of Philadelphia as an assistant defender. Two years later she accepted a role with the State of New Jersey as an assistant deputy defender. Those positions kept her in court every day. She handled client interviews, pretrial work and courtroom appearances that built practical skills rarely learned in lectures.

In 1988 she shifted to private practice as an associate at Friedman Siegelbaum. The move broadened her exposure to civil litigation and the dynamics of firm life. Five years later she became a partner in a firm she helped shape. In 1993 she was listed as a partner at Schwartz & Posnock, a step that formalized a long transition from public defender to principal in private practice.

Her admissions reflect a geographically varied practice. She is admitted in California, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and she holds admission to the Federal Circuit and the 3rd Circuit. Those credentials allow her to appear in both state and federal venues. She also maintains memberships in professional groups, including the Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers of New Jersey and the American Bar Association. The memberships keep her connected to colleagues and to professional developments across jurisdictions.

Colleagues describe a lawyer who is practical and steady in litigation. Her background in public defense informs how she approaches cases in private practice. She brings courtroom experience and an understanding of trial procedure to client work. She has handled matters at trial level and holds the admissions necessary to pursue appeals when required.

Now in practice at Schwartz & Posnock, she balances the demands of firm practice with continuing bar involvement. She represents clients and appears in the courts where she is admitted, drawing on a career that spans public defense and private litigation. She practices at Schwartz & Posnock and represents clients in matters arising in the jurisdictions where she is admitted.
