About William F. Godbold

William F. Godbold IV brings an uncommon combination of technical training and legal education to his work. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville (B.S.Ch.E., 2003), then a Bachelor of Arts in Japanese Studies from the State University of New York at Albany (B.A., 2005). Godbold completed his law degree at William H. Bowen School of Law (J.D., 2014).

He began his professional life in engineering. That background left him comfortable with complex technical and factual records. He later moved into law, where those analytical habits proved useful. Today he is admitted to practice in Arkansas and before the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit.

Godbold’s legal career includes practice at Natural State Law beginning in 2019. Records show his arrival there in 2019; he has since handled litigation and transactional matters brought by and against creditors and debtors. His work often involves contested collections, bankruptcy-related motions, and disputes that require courtroom appearances in federal and state tribunals.

Active in local professional circles, he has served in leadership roles with the Debtor-Creditor Bar of Central Arkansas. He held the post of Secretary-Treasurer for the organization during 2019–2020 and is listed as the current Secretary-Treasurer. That involvement keeps him engaged with peers who handle bankruptcy and creditor-debtor law across the region.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing for hearings and trials. He draws on both his engineering training and legal education when assembling evidence, preparing experts and exploring complex financial records. Clients and opposing counsel can expect detailed briefs and an emphasis on clarity when technical matters arise.

Outside the courtroom, Godbold’s path through a technical undergraduate degree, a humanities-oriented BA, and a law degree gives him a varied perspective on cases that mix business, finance and technical issues. He handles matters in federal and state venues and maintains active ties to the debtor-creditor bar. He practices at Natural State Law, PLLC, where his work centers on creditor-debtor litigation and related federal and state court matters.
