About Tim
Tim Webb entered law after a liberal arts start. He earned a J.D. from Boston University School of Law in 1993 and holds a B.A. in political science and economics from Drew University, class of 1987. Those years shaped a practical approach to public law and courtroom practice.
His first notable public role came in 1996, when he joined the Minnesota Lawyer General’s office as an Assistant Lawyer General. That post gave him regular contact with government litigation and prosecutorial processes. He moved into private practice at the turn of the century, joining Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly in 2001 and then becoming a partner at Rider Bennett LLP in 2002. Those years in firm practice broadened his civil litigation and white-collar experience.
In 2007 Webb opened his own firm, Timothy D Webb PLLC, and also joined the Federal Criminal Justice Act Panel as a panel lawyer that same year. Membership on that panel has kept him active in federal criminal defense work and trial practice. He has been a member of the Minnesota Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2003, placing him in professional circles focused on criminal defense strategy and court procedure.
His professional service includes a spell of bar activity in the American Bar Association. From 2005 to 2007 he co-chaired the ABA’s Twin Cities White-Collar Lawyers Subcommittee, a role that involved organizing programming and discussion on ethical and procedural topics in white-collar matters. Combined with his membership on the F.C.J.A. panel and his private practice, that work reflects sustained engagement with criminal and regulatory litigation.
Webb is licensed in Minnesota and in the Eighth Circuit. Over the years his practice has mixed trial work, appeals and counseling clients in cases that intersect with government enforcement. He has handled matters in federal and state court and participates in local criminal defense organizations. Today he practices from Timothy D Webb, PLLC, concentrating on criminal defense and related appellate work.
