About Thomas J.
Thomas J. Roman graduated from the University of Delaware in 1971 and earned his J.D. from Widener University School of Law in Wilmington, Delaware, in 1975. He entered the legal profession at a time of change in Delaware courts and has practiced through decades of evolving case law. Those academic years set the foundation for a long career in civil litigation and courtroom work.
Early in his career Roman joined private practice and became part of the firm now known as Kimmel, Carter, Roman, Peltz & O Neill. He has remained associated with that group for many years. His role there has involved representing individuals and families in trial settings and handling complex pretrial preparation. Colleagues describe him as steady in court and methodical in preparing cases.
Roman is admitted to practice in Delaware and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. He maintains memberships in the Delaware Trial Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, and the Delaware State Bar. Those memberships have kept him engaged with developments in litigation strategy, evidence law, and procedural practice. He attends bar events and continues to be involved in the local legal community.
Over the course of his practice Roman has concentrated on civil litigation. He has handled personal injury claims, wrongful death matters, and other plaintiff-side civil cases. His courtroom work includes jury trials and preliminary hearings. He has spent much of his time preparing witnesses, developing factual records, and presenting cases to juries. The work requires attention to detail and an ability to make complex facts accessible to jurors.
Roman’s office is located in the Plaza 273 Building near the interchange of I-95 and Route 273. From that base he meets with clients, conducts depositions, and files pleadings in state and federal court. He continues to take on new cases as well as manage matters that have been active for years.
After four decades in practice, Roman remains active in litigation and client representation. He currently handles civil trial work and related pretrial matters in Delaware and in federal court in the District of Delaware.
