About Steven
Steven Zachary began his legal career after completing his legal studies in 1981. He earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Minnesota — Twin Cities that year, having also studied at Minnesota State University, Mankato. Those early academic years set the stage for a courtroom-oriented practice that would follow.
He is admitted to practice in Minnesota and Arizona and is also authorized to appear before the United States Courts of Appeals for the Eighth and Ninth Circuits. Those admissions give him options to handle matters at both the state and federal appellate levels when a case requires it.
Zachary is the founder of Zachary Law Group, PLC. He launched the firm to provide trial representation and litigation services, and he has served as principal since its establishment. His role includes case preparation, courtroom advocacy and overseeing litigation strategy. He has built the firm to handle contested matters that move into the courtroom rather than remaining solely in negotiation or settlement phases.
His professional memberships reflect the practical work he does. He holds current memberships in the State Bars of Minnesota and Arizona. He is a member of the National Trial Lawyers Top 100, and he joined the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in 2021. These affiliations place him in organizations that focus on trial practice and criminal defense, and he has participated in the continuing legal education and professional activities those groups offer.
Colleagues describe him as someone who prefers hands-on litigation. He spends a significant portion of his time preparing for and conducting trials and hearings. That practical emphasis shows up in the types of cases his firm handles and in the courtroom work that occupies much of his schedule.
Outside of firm matters, he has maintained active bar membership and federal appellate admissions to ensure clients can pursue appeals when necessary. He practices in trial courts and, when needed, in appellate venues within the circuits where he is admitted.
He continues to lead Zachary Law Group, PLC and to accept matters that require courtroom advocacy. He currently concentrates on criminal defense and trial litigation at Zachary Law Group, PLC.
