About Jonathan
Jonathan Roeder took a winding path into law. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at Pepperdine University in 2006 and earned his Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 2011. Those academic steps set the stage for a career that blends classroom teaching, practical legal work and real estate practice.
He began in a traditional legal role, working as a legal clerk at the Law Office of Edward Christensen in 2008. That early experience exposed him to day-to-day client matters and the mechanics of preparing files for court and negotiation. After law school he took a position in academia, serving as an adjunct professor of online instruction at Grand Canyon University in 2011. Teaching sharpened his skills in explaining legal concepts clearly and in structuring material for nontraditional learners.
Roeder added a sales and transactional angle to his resume when he became a licensed realtor with HomeSmart International in 2013. He remains a member of the National Association of Realtors and the Phoenix Association of Realtors, ties that reflect an ongoing engagement with the housing market and real estate professionals. In 2016 he helped found The Valley Law Group, PLLC, and a year later he co-founded Draft My Legal Docs, LLC. Those ventures signaled a move toward entrepreneurship and toward shaping how clients access legal services.
Across these roles he has maintained professional ties in Arizona. He lists membership in the Maricopa County Bar Association beginning in 2023. The combination of bar association involvement, real estate affiliations and small-business ventures gives him a mixed practice profile. He brings courtroom preparation, client counseling and transactional awareness to his client work.
Colleagues and clients encounter a lawyer who moves comfortably between the technical demands of legal filings and the practical realities of property deals. His background as an instructor shows in his clear explanations during consultations. His real estate license keeps him attuned to market trends and the paperwork that accompanies property transfers. At The Valley Law Group he is one of the founders and a practicing lawyer, and he continues to operate Draft My Legal Docs alongside that work.
Roeder is licensed to practice in Arizona and maintains active memberships in real estate organizations and the local bar association. He currently focuses his practice on matters that sit at the intersection of law and real estate.
