About Steven S.
Steven S. Davis built his legal foundation in two different regions of the country. He earned a B.A. in political science and public relations from the University of Utah in 2003 after beginning his undergraduate studies in 1998. He later attended Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and received his J.D. in 2009, completing a three-year course of study that began in 2006.
After law school, Davis entered practice in Indiana. He is admitted to the Indiana bar and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Those admissions allow him to handle matters in both state and federal forums. He has continued to base his work in Indiana while maintaining the ability to appear in the appellate court that covers the region.
In court and in briefs, Davis emphasizes clarity. He writes to be understood and argues points directly. That straightforward approach shows in filings that aim to present the record and the law plainly. He prepares pleadings, motions and appellate briefs, and he handles oral argument when cases advance to hearings or appeals.
Colleagues and opposing counsel often note the value of practical courtroom experience, especially on appeals. Davis combines trial-court work with appellate responsibilities. He moves cases through trial proceedings and then pursues review when circumstances require it. That two-track practice keeps him engaged with both fact development at trial and legal analysis on appeal.
Outside the courtroom, Davis’s background in political science and public relations informs how he frames legal issues. He pays attention to narrative as well as to precedent. That perspective shapes how documents are organized and how arguments are structured for judges and clerks.
Over time he has focused his professional energy on matters that arise in Indiana and, when necessary, on matters that proceed to the Seventh Circuit. He maintains a practice in Indiana, handling cases in state trial courts and appeals in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
