About Anne

Anne Lowe earned her Bachelor of Arts from DePauw University in 2008 and a Juris Doctor from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2013. She left law school and moved directly into an appellate clerkship. The year 2013 placed her inside the appellate system at a formative time.

Her first post-law-school position was as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Paul D. Mathias at the Indiana Court of Appeals. That year-long clerkship exposed her to the mechanics of opinion writing and the demands of appellate procedure. It also offered a close-up view of how appellate judges weigh legal arguments and craft precedent.

After clerking, Lowe entered private practice. In 2015 she joined Williams & Piatt, LLC as an associate lawyer. There she handled a mix of litigation tasks that often intersected with appellate work, drafting briefs and preparing record excerpts. The role gave her experience on both the trial and appellate sides of disputes.

Her practice centers on appellate litigation. She regularly files briefs and appears for oral argument in state and federal appellate courts. Lowe is admitted to practice in Indiana and is authorized to appear before the Seventh Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. Colleagues note her emphasis on careful legal writing and precise procedural advocacy.

Lowe participates in the legal community beyond her case load. She has served on the council of the Indiana State Bar Association’s Appellate Section since 2021. In 2022 she was recognized as a Distinguished Fellow of the IndyBar Foundation, a role she retains. These positions keep her engaged with developments in appellate law and bar governance.

She practices at Fugate Gangstad LLC, where her work continues to revolve around appeals and post-trial relief. Her caseload spans civil appeals and related appellate remedies. She also advises trial counsel on preserving issues for appeal and prepares clients for the appellate process.

Those who need appellate counsel can expect a lawyer experienced in brief writing, record preparation, and argument in higher courts. Her current practice concentrates on appellate litigation and advising attorneys and clients on appellate strategy.
