About Heather L
Heather L. Franklin took a nontraditional route into law. She earned a B.S. in Marketing from the University of Indianapolis in 2002, then spent several years in procurement and contract roles in the private sector before returning to school. She completed her Doctor of Law at Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2017.
Her early post-graduate work introduced her to litigation support and court processes. In 2015 she served as a law clerk for the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission, an experience that exposed her to professional responsibility matters. After law school she worked as a document review lawyer for The Gnoesis Group in 2017. That role led into private practice. In 2018 she joined Bennett Boehning & Clary, LLP as an associate. The following year she formed Pauker Franklin Law, LLC and worked there as a lawyer in 2019.
Franklin's background before law shaped her approach at the bar. From 2006 to 2011 she held procurement and contracting positions in manufacturing and automotive industries, including roles as Contract Administrator at Precision Rings Incorporated, Direct Materials Buyer at Subaru of Indiana Automotive, and Procurement Specialist at Heartland Sweeteners LLC. Those jobs required negotiating, document management, and attention to contractual detail. She brought those skills to her legal work.
She is a Registered Domestic Relations Mediator under the Indiana Judicial Branch and maintains memberships in several bar and community organizations. She belongs to the Indiana State Bar Association, the Indianapolis Bar Association, and the Hamilton County Bar Association. She also serves on the ISBA Diversity Committee and participates in the Carmel UMC Mission Advisory Team.
Colleagues describe Franklin as methodical and exacting in document work and practical in settlement settings. Her litigation experience, combined with mediation training, positions her to handle contested matters as well as negotiated resolutions. She has handled document review projects and matters in private practice that require both courtroom preparation and negotiated settlements.
Franklin now practices at Zivitz Law Group, P.C. Her practice reflects the range of her experience: court-side work from her clerkship, document and case management from review projects, and contract and procurement knowledge from her earlier career. She maintains an active bar presence and serves as a Registered Domestic Relations Mediator. She currently focuses her practice on matters that draw on her mediation credential and litigation experience.
