About Stephen K.
Stephen K. Brooks graduated from Stetson University College of Law with an LL.B. in 1986. He began his legal career soon after finishing law school and built a practice anchored in courtroom work. Over the years he developed a reputation among colleagues for steady preparation and an unhurried approach to complex cases.
By 1992 he became a partner at Brooks Law Group, PA. He has spent much of his career practicing in Florida and has remained based at the same firm since taking the partner role. Those two decades and more in practice have given him time in court and time behind the scenes managing litigation strategies and client relationships.
Peers and legal organizations have recognized his work. He has an AV Preeminent peer review rating from Martindale Hubbell, the highest rating available for legal ability and professional ethics as judged by other lawyers. AVVO has rated him a 10, the top score on that platform. He is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, an organization whose membership is limited to attorneys who have obtained million- and multi-million-dollar verdicts or settlements. He also holds membership in the National Trial Lawyers’ Top 100 for the State of Florida, an invitation-based group that lists trial lawyers from each state.
Locally, he is active in the Polk County Trial Lawyers Association. That participation has kept him connected to a regional bench and bar and to the practical issues that affect trial practice in his area. His colleagues describe him as someone who values preparation and a measured courtroom demeanor. He has combined trial work and practice management in a small-firm setting, handling the range of tasks that come with running and sustaining a law practice.
The record of ratings and memberships reflects a career spent largely in trial work and litigation. He continues to serve as a partner at Brooks Law Group, PA and remains an active member of the Florida legal community. He currently practices at Brooks Law Group, PA, representing clients in trial matters throughout Florida.
