About Marc A.

Marc A. Lewin built his academic foundation on a mix of general and specialized study. He earned a law degree from The John Marshall Law School and went on to complete an LL.M. in Taxation at Georgetown University Law Center in 2007. Before law school he studied at Tufts University, where he received a B.A. His education provided a straight line into tax law and related practice areas.

Lewin began his legal career after law school and gradually moved toward tax work. The LL.M. in Taxation marked a turning point. He also holds admissions that reflect that trajectory: he is licensed in Massachusetts, Maryland and Rhode Island, and admitted to practice before the Tax Court. Those credentials have shaped the types of matters he takes on and the forums where he appears.

By 2014 he was serving as counsel at Adler Pollock & Sheehan P.C. That role placed him in a firm environment handling complex client questions that touch on tax rules and regulatory issues. He worked alongside litigators and transactional lawyers, adding courtroom and advisory experience to his résumé. His time at Adler Pollock & Sheehan tied his academic training to day-to-day legal practice in state and federal settings.

Lewin’s work reflects the intersection of tax technicality and practical problem solving. He prepares tax analyses and supports clients facing audits or disputes. He also assists with planning that requires careful interpretation of statutes and regulations. His practice relies on translating dense tax concepts into clear advice clients can act on.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in approach. He pays attention to record detail and statutory language. That orientation is useful when cases require appeals or filings before specialized tribunals. It also serves well in transactional matters where tax consequences are central to structure and timing.

Outside the courtroom and client conferences, Lewin keeps up with developments in tax law through study and practice. The Tax Court admission and LL.M. training remain central to how he evaluates issues. He balances litigation-ready preparation with practical options for clients who prefer negotiated resolutions over prolonged disputes.

He is based at Adler, Pollock & Sheehan and retains a practice that draws on his tax training and multi-jurisdictional admissions. He currently represents clients in tax matters, counseling on compliance and disputes and appearing in appropriate state and federal fora.
