About Shayan

Shayan Modarres built his legal foundation through study and practice across state lines. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Law and Society and Political Science from American University in 2002. Nearly a decade later he completed his Juris Doctor at Florida A&M University College of Law in 2011. Those years framed his interest in the intersection of law, policy and individual rights.

After law school Modarres entered private practice and expanded the geographic scope of his work. He holds admission in Florida and Maryland and is admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Those credentials have allowed him to handle matters at both the state and federal levels, including appellate filings in the circuit that covers much of the southeastern United States.

His practice centers on civil rights and criminal defense. He founded The Modarres Law Office | Maryland Civil Rights and Criminal Defense Law Office to provide a practice structure responsive to those areas. The office name signals the kinds of matters he accepts: contested criminal cases and claims that involve alleged violations of civil liberties. He represents clients facing state criminal charges and pursues civil remedies when constitutional issues arise.

Modarres's work requires balancing courtroom presence with written advocacy. Civil rights cases often hinge on detailed factual records and precise legal argument. Criminal defense work demands an ability to respond quickly to shifting facts and urgent procedural deadlines. His admissions in multiple jurisdictions allow him to file pleadings and appear in different forums when cases cross state or federal lines.

He has maintained membership in professional associations, and his practice benefits from contacts across local and regional legal communities. That network supports investigation, expert engagement and litigation strategy when complex matters require coordination beyond a single office.

Clients find his office in Maryland, where he runs the Modarres Law Office. The firm handles arraignments, pretrial motions, plea negotiations, trial representation and civil rights litigation. He divides time between case preparation, courtroom work and appellate briefs when needed. The office serves individuals confronting criminal charges as well as plaintiffs pursuing civil rights claims.

Today Modarres continues to practice in Maryland and Florida and to appear in the Eleventh Circuit. He represents clients in criminal defense and pursues civil rights litigation as part of his current practice focus.
