About Seth
Seth Obed built a legal path that moves steadily from liberal arts classrooms to the courtroom and the boardroom. He studied Government and English at Bowdoin College, earning his B.A. in 2003. He then attended Washington and Lee University School of Law and received his J.D. in 2011, where his coursework included Virginia civil procedure.
Those academic years set a clear pattern. At Bowdoin he balanced literature and public affairs. At Washington and Lee he focused on the mechanics of state practice and procedure. The combination shows in the way he approaches cases: attention to detail, and attention to how rules operate in local courts.
His early legal work began in private practice. In 2012 he served as an associate lawyer at General Counsel, PC. The next year he took on a leadership role close to home, founding Obed Law Group, PLC and serving as its firm principal in 2013. That move marked a shift from associate-level work to managing a practice and handling the business-side responsibilities that come with running a firm.
Over time the firm structure evolved. Today he practices under the name Obed Law, PLLC. The record shows continuity: the same lawyer who trained in Virginia procedure and who worked as an associate moved into firm leadership and retained a practice rooted in the state. His career path reflects steady progression rather than abrupt pivots.
Colleagues and clients describe him as methodical in preparation and direct in courtroom settings. He draws on both his liberal arts background and his formal legal training when framing arguments. That combination can be useful in written work and in hearings where state rules and local practice govern outcomes.
Outside casework he has maintained professional ties within the legal community. He remains active in membership roles that support ongoing engagement with peers and the law in Virginia.
He currently practices at Obed Law, PLLC in Virginia, where his work centers on matters arising under Virginia law.
