About Ryan
Ryan Ramsayer earned his Bachelor of Arts from Minnesota State College & University — Bemidji State University in 2006 and graduated from Michigan State University College of Law in 2009. He moved into criminal defense work after law school and has built a practice handling contested matters in court. His academic background provided a foundation in legal research and courtroom procedure that he has applied throughout his career.
He is a Senior Associate at Barone Defense Firm. In that role he represents clients at various stages of criminal proceedings. His work has included preparing and arguing pretrial motions, managing investigations, and trying cases before judges and juries. He also meets with clients to explain options and plan defensive strategies tailored to each matter.
Ramsayer is admitted to practice in Michigan and before the Federal Eastern District of Michigan, and he appears in both state and federal courts. He holds memberships in the National College for DUI Defense, the Michigan Association of OWI Lawyers, and the State Bar of Michigan. Those professional ties provide access to continuing education and technical resources that inform his courtroom work and case preparation.
Much of his practice involves DUI and OWI defense, along with other criminal charges that arise from traffic- and alcohol-related incidents. He handles matters ranging from preliminary hearings to full trials, addressing evidentiary questions and cross-examination of witnesses. Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing cases and willing to test the government’s evidence when appropriate.
Ramsayer continues to work at Barone Defense Firm, where he focuses on defending clients accused of DUI/OWI and related criminal offenses. His current practice centers on courtroom advocacy, pretrial defense work, and counseling clients about the legal process.
