About Ryan Patrick

Ryan Patrick Henson earned his law degree from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1999 after completing a Bachelor of Science in Marketing at the University of Idaho in 1992. His academic path bridged business and law, and it set a practical tone for a career that has moved between public service and private practice. He returned to Idaho to build a practice grounded in courtroom experience.

Early in his career Henson served as a deputy prosecutor for the Canyon County Prosecuting Lawyer in 2002. That role placed him in the trial setting and introduced him to the procedural rhythm of criminal cases at the county level. The work demanded motion practice, witness preparation and courtroom appearances, and it gave him direct exposure to how cases unfold from charging through resolution.

In 2005 he became a partner in Gulstrom, Henson & Roark, PC. As partner he handled a range of matters for clients of the firm while also helping manage day-to-day operations. The partner role broadened his responsibilities beyond litigation and into the management tasks that come with running a small firm. Colleagues from that period describe someone comfortable switching between casework and firm administration.

A transition came in 2015 when Henson joined Jones & Swartz, PLLC as a lawyer. The move placed him within a different firm structure and opened new collaborative opportunities with other attorneys. At Jones & Swartz he continued to take cases to court and to counsel clients on procedural options and settlement decisions.

His background includes experience in prosecution and in private firm practice. Those strands combine to inform how he evaluates cases and advises clients. He is accustomed to courtroom procedure, evidentiary practice, and the practical decisions that clients face when deciding whether to litigate or negotiate. That practical bent shows in how he prepares files and presents matters in court.

He is licensed in Idaho and maintains an active presence in the state legal community. He currently practices at Jones & Swartz, PLLC, concentrating on litigation and trial work in Idaho.
