About Colby
Colby Jones built a legal foundation that blends courtroom work and formal training in dispute resolution. He earned his J.D. from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in 2018 and returned to school for an LL.M. in Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University. Those credentials shape how he approaches contested matters and negotiated outcomes.
He began his post-law school work in a judicial clerkship, serving as a staff lawyer in 2018. The clerkship offered close exposure to judges’ decision-making and case management. In 2019 he moved into practice, handling family law and criminal law matters. That early phase of his career involved courtroom filings, client advocacy, and the kinds of contested hearings that define family and criminal dockets.
In 2023 he became a partner at Adkins & Jones, PLLC. The partnership followed several years of litigation and dispute work. Alongside the firm role, he has maintained an office under the name COLBY L. JONES, P.C., which he uses for client consultations and certain matters he handles directly.
Jones holds leadership roles in the bar community. He has served as chairperson of the Dispute Resolution Section of the Idaho State Bar since 2022. He is also a member of the Idaho Trial Lawyers Association. Those positions reflect an interest in both improving dispute processes and staying engaged with trial practice in Idaho.
His Pepperdine LL.M. informs his approach to mediation and settlement efforts. He draws on formal dispute resolution techniques in pretrial negotiations and mediation sessions. At the same time, his background in criminal and family law means he remains comfortable taking cases through hearings and trials when necessary.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparation and straightforward in court. Clients see an attorney who moves between negotiation rooms and court calendars without losing sight of case details. He handles the procedural and strategic work required in contested family and criminal matters.
He practices in Idaho and has spent his career developing both trial skills and alternate dispute techniques. His current practice combines partnership responsibilities at Adkins & Jones, PLLC and work conducted through COLBY L. JONES, P.C. His practice focuses on family law, criminal defense, and dispute resolution work.
