About Nicholas L.
Nicholas L. Wollen earned his J.D. from the University of Idaho College of Law in 2000. He completed his legal education at a state law school that feeds many of Idaho’s trial lawyers. That credential set the stage for a career split between public service and private practice.
He entered private practice immediately after law school, joining White Peterson Lawyers at Law in 2000. Those early years gave him exposure to day-to-day client work and firm-based practice. In 2003 he moved into public defense, taking a post as a deputy public defender with the Ada County Public Defender’s Office. There he handled matters for the county and gained courtroom experience representing clients charged with criminal offenses.
After several years in public defense, he returned to private practice. In 2018 he began working at Wollen Law, Pllc. The move marked a return to firm work while drawing on the courtroom experience he had developed in Ada County. Over the course of his career he has worked in both institutional and small-firm settings, giving him perspective on how cases are prepared and litigated in different environments.
Wollen practices in Idaho. His background encompasses public defender work and private representation, and that mix informs how he approaches cases. He has handled matters at different stages of the process, from client intake to courtroom appearances. Colleagues and clients have described him as steady in court and practical at the office.
Outside of courtroom work, his career reflects the small, interconnected legal community in Idaho. Lawyers who move between public service and private practice often draw on relationships formed across those roles. Wollen’s path follows that pattern: initial firm work, years in a county public defender’s office, then a return to private practice.
He continues to practice at Wollen Law, Pllc., operating under the laws of Idaho. His current work is concentrated on matters arising in Idaho state courts and related client counseling at his firm.
