About Ryan Edward
Ryan Edward Weese built his legal foundations at Drake University. He completed undergraduate studies there in 1998 after attending from 1996 to 1998. He then continued at Drake University Law School, earning his J.D. in 2001 following three years of study.
After law school, Weese entered litigation and family law circles in Iowa. He is admitted to practice in Iowa and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Early in his career he was associated with Shindler, Anderson, Goplerud & Weese PC, a firm that carried his name on the letterhead for a period.
He later moved into a partnership role at Hudson Law Office. There he has handled contested matters that require courtroom work as well as negotiated resolutions. Colleagues describe him as steady in the courtroom and methodical in case preparation. He has balanced courtroom appearances with client counseling, often managing cases that involve both procedural complexity and personal stakes.
Weese belongs to several professional organizations that reflect the contours of his practice. He has been a member of the American Bar Association since 2001 and has participated in its Family Law Section. He is a member of the National Trial Lawyers and holds membership in the American Association for Justice. In 2013 he became a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, an affiliation that signals sustained involvement in family law at a national level.
That mix of trial group membership and family law fellowship shapes the kinds of matters he takes on. He is comfortable arguing motions and trying cases, and he also spends time on the detailed financial and custody negotiations that many family law disputes require. His approach tends to be pragmatic: focus on the next step in a case and prepare thoroughly for the one after that.
Outside the courtroom he has been involved in professional activities that keep him connected to evolving practice standards and procedure. He has maintained continuous membership in bar organizations dating back to the early 2000s, which has kept him plugged into developments in family law and civil litigation.
Today he serves as a partner at Hudson Law Office and continues to handle family law and trial litigation matters in Iowa and in federal appeals where appropriate. His current practice focuses on family law disputes, including divorce, custody, and related trial work.
