About Robert E. Hayes
Robert E. Hayes Jr. built a steady academic foundation before entering the law. He earned his J.D. from Mississippi College School of Law in 2002. Before that he completed an M.S. at Mississippi State University in 1996 and a B.S. in 1992. His earlier studies include an A.A. from Southwest Mississippi Community College in 1990.
Hayes began his legal career in public service. In 2007 he served as Assistant City Lawyer for the City of Southaven and also worked as a public defender there. The following year he joined Robinson, Biggs, Ingram, Solop & Farris, PLLC as an associate. In 2009 he became a partner at Rozier Hayes, PLLC. Four years later he moved into a leadership role at Hayes Law Office as a partner, a position he held beginning in 2013.
His practice crosses state lines. He is licensed in both Mississippi and Tennessee and holds current memberships in state and local bar associations. Those affiliations include the Mississippi Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association, the Desoto County Bar Association and the Lafayette County Bar Association. He is also a member of the Mississippi Prosecutors Association. He carries a mediator certification from the Mississippi Bar Association, adding an alternative dispute resolution credential to his profile.
Throughout his career Hayes has handled matters that touch both criminal and municipal law, reflecting his early roles in city government and in public defense. His time as Assistant City Lawyer gave him experience on the municipal side of legal practice. His period as a public defender provided courtroom and trial exposure. Later practice in private firms expanded his work into civil representation and general litigation.
Colleagues describe him as steady and practical in the courtroom. He tends to favor direct preparation and clear communication. He has moved between public and private roles, and that movement informs how he approaches cases. He knows the procedural demands of criminal dockets and the policy concerns of municipal clients.
Hayes Law Office lists him as a partner and serves as his home base for ongoing client work. He continues to be active in bar associations across Mississippi and Tennessee and remains qualified to mediate disputes. His current practice at Hayes Law Office handles civil litigation, municipal matters, criminal defense and mediation services.
