About Hiten H.
Hiten H. Patel studied political science at Auburn University and graduated in 2008. He earned his J.D. from Mississippi College School of Law in 2011. Those early academic choices set a clear path toward public service and courtroom work.
Patel’s first legal experiences came while he was still a student. He interned for Senator Thad Cochran in 2009 and worked as a legal assistant at several small firms. He spent time in the Hinds County Prosecutor’s Office in 2010 and later served as a legal intern in the Office of the City Prosecutor in Jackson, Mississippi, in 2011. That same year he joined the Office of the City Lawyer in Jackson as a deputy city lawyer.
After gaining experience in municipal and prosecutorial offices, Patel moved into private practice. He worked at Nadler & Associates, P.C. beginning in 2013 and then at McCullough Payne Haan & Nadler in 2015. In 2017 he joined the Jacob Law Group, PLLC. Each position exposed him to a mix of courtroom work, client counseling, and legal research. The variety of roles broadened his practical skills and gave him experience on both sides of criminal cases.
In 2020 Patel started HP Lawyers, PLLC. He runs the firm from offices in Mississippi. His professional affiliations include membership in the Mississippi Bar Association and the National College for DUI Defense. Those memberships reflect parts of his casework and the communities of practitioners he engages with.
Patel’s background includes municipal law, prosecutorial work, and defense practice. He has handled matters arising out of county and city prosecutions and has experience in cases involving driving under the influence. Clients and opposing counsel have encountered him in municipal matters and criminal court. He balances trial work with preparation and negotiation, and he draws on his public-sector experience when advising local clients.
Today he practices through HP Lawyers, PLLC. He is licensed to practice in Mississippi and maintains active membership in state and national legal organizations. His current practice concentrates on criminal defense, including DUI matters, and on municipal legal work.
